Western Video Plan
We have been tasked to make a short style western video that represents what we have learnt about camera techniques and editing techniques.
The video will have a beginning, Middle and End.
Beginning:
The video will start with a rise from black and will start with a wide shot. Both characters will be placed at opposite ends of the frame this means that the audience will be able to clearly who the showdown is between and their relationship. The negative space between the characters will show that they don't even want to be near each other.
There will then be equal high angle shots of the characters moving through the frame in a 180 circle. this replicates the good bad and ugly, however by adding cuts, it amplifies movement and creates tension.
Middle:
In my video I will aim to have a collection of close up, cowboy, medium and dirty single shots. the middle section of my video will be a compilation of shots that are all equal. This way the audience can't tell who the villain or hero is. This in itself will bring tension. Due to the fact that they can't make a decision, the audience don't know who to support which brings them to the edge of their seat. As referenced in the good , bad and ugly, I will try to include extreme close ups on eyes. This will help make the characters seem emotionless and heartless killers. When it comes to editing my video, I will attempt to make shots cut and intervene with each other so we can see characters doing the same thing at the same time.
End:
The end of my video will aim to be comedic. As the audience don't understand the reasoning or who the hero is behind this showdown, I believe that the best ending is comedic. I will end the video with one of the characters being shot and crying like a baby. I will also make the music cut out. This rise of tension within the video, to then be cut off and have someone crying like a baby will give the same kind of comedic effect as a "dad joke". This is because it isn't actually funny, but the surprise gives a small sense of "oh my god haha". This ending then pulls the video together and gives the video purpose.
