podcast production

Shown above is the equipment that was used for the podcast. The podcast was recorded using the Rode NT1A microphone which, as explained in my pre production, is very good for the purposes of making a podcast. The room itself is decent with soundproofing. There are double doors in order to cut out most sounds and also thick glass to stop sounds coming in from the music recording rooms.

The large screen displays the microphone outputs. Here we are able to change the gain on each microphone in order to fine tune the quality. If the microphone quality was set too low, it means more post processing will be required in order to have a decent sounding audio. However, if the audio was too loud and began to clip, the audio would have been unusable as it is impossible to bring them details back in post production.

The smaller monitor on the worktop has Logic Pro X open. The files were recorded in logic pro X in order to make sure that they would work when it comes to editing. If they were recorded in a different file, this may have caused problems down the line.

When it came to production I had many issues which may result in my final product being very basic and short. I had to record, the podcast a total of two times. During the first recording I had technical issues as it did not record a mic properly and meant that I would need to record again in order to include another person. This caused a major issue with production as I only had one chance to record. Luckily I was able to record again, however it wouldn't be until a week later.

Coming into recording the podcast I decided that it would be best to quickly record a segment of audio so I could make sure that all mics were recording properly. This worked and I was able to record a successful podcast. It ran very well and the homemade script helped streamline work. The script meant that people knew what to talk about and minimised the awkward silences.

After recording It was time to start post production.
